  • Remembering Mr. Crystal Beach, Paul Kassay Jr The Icon and His Legacy

I wanted to share the wonderfully written article highlighting the life of the late Paul Kassay Jr. who recently passed. To view, the article written by Christine Whelan and Rick Doan click here.

My first memories of Paul were as a young child visiting him at his home in Crystal Beach and seeing all the very cool Crystal Beach Memorabilia. I also fondly remember going for many pontoon boat rides at his cottage in Netherby (Black Creek).

Paul, you will be missed but you left our community with many photos and good memories. Thoughts and prayers are with the Kassay Family Peggy, Chris, daughter Paula, and Debbie.

  • Article: Fence blocking access to lake in Crystal Beach sparks petition

By Nick FearnsFort Erie Post Tue., July 21, 2020

A fence blocking a road allowance in Crystal Beach has sparked a petition that has garnered more than 570 signatures, surpassing a goal of 500.

Tom Lewis, a Crystal Beach resident, started the petition earlier this month after a fence went up in one location near the access, and then was installed in a different location nearby.

Lewis said he grew up in nearby Ridgeway and has used the road allowance for at least the past 20 years in order to go kayaking or use his paddle board.

He said he had not been aware of any issues about accessing the water prior to the fence going up.

Lewis, a former town councillor, said it was never an issue when he represented the ward from 2003 until 2006.

Here’s what you need to know and a list of who’s running in Fort Erie. Municipal elections in the province are set to take place on Oct. 24. In Niagara, that means voters will have a chance to elect their local municipal representatives, as well as the people that will represent them on regional council.

  • Why I am running

Ward 5 Crystal Beach/Ridgeway needs to build on the momentum that has helped us achieve so much. We must seize the opportunities to continue to make our community better and work together. I believe this community could benefit from my enthusiasm, experience, knowledge, and ability to listen. I’ve built advocacy skills over the years that will assist in advancing Crystal Beach and Fort Erie further, and in a direction, we can be proud of. We need a local representative that knows the community and will ‘hit the ground running’ the next day.
